Rubber Wood / Jungle Wood

Rubber is one of the fastest growing, cheapest and most abundant variety of wood in India. The rubber tree is felled after completely harvesting its latex. Since it is a very fast growing variety, it is very quickly replacable causing minimum environmental damage. Kerala is one of largest producers of rubber wood in India.

Applications:
Rubber wood is basically a very short-lived variety of wood and is mainly used only for temporary applications like packing purposes etc. It allows very quick and easy penetration of borers and termites thus making it unfit for durable purposes. However, it is also popularly known as borer teak in India after the basic rubber wood is chemically treated and seasoned. Borer teak is used for certain kinds of furniture and interior wall paneling. For best results, it is recommended only to apply paint to the surface.
